July 2006 Newsletter

Helloooo Everybodeeee!!! I hope this finds you happy, healthy and hungry for new music!! I, myself, have already had a whirlwind of a summer! Let me catch you up....

I just finished some great shows with Shawn Colvin, Indigo Girls and...get this...singing the National Anthem at The Atlanta Braves 4th of July game!!! It was amazing!!! I got the message at 1am July 2nd, because apparently Reba cancelled (I think i'll send her a thank you note ;-) I stood on home plate and sang 3 of my own songs in the pre-game warm up. Then, I walked right out close to the pitcher's mound (they wouldn't let me actually stand on it- dang!), and I sang the National Anthem for 50,000 fans at Turner Field...not to mention the folks watching on TV...but no pressure! I don't think I have ever been so nervous in my entire life. I had never "performed" that song before, and it is a humdinger to sing, let me tell ya. I got through it, though, and I think I did pretty well! As I held out the last few notes, 4 jets flew over the stadium, and the crowd screamed like crazy - I couldn't even hear myself! I saw the video yesterday, and they don't call that big TV the jumbo-tron for nothing - my hand was as big as a house! This one's going down in my scrap book, ya'll. I posted the video in 2 parts on YouTube.com - the whole thing wouldn't fit. If you'd like to watch it, go here:

I know that I've been talking about this for over a year, but I have finally found a good home for my new CD, and it will be available October 10th on Valley Entertainment!! The final title is SUGARFOOT, and it's a bluesy rockin' romp that will make ya dance AND maybe even shed a tear. It's got enough jangly acoustic AND electric rawness to please both my personalities, and it's a lot of fun!!! Frankly, I just needed a break from the seriousness of adult reality (ie, divorce, moving, band quitting, feeling very disenfranchised, etc) so I made a record that would help me forget all that BS, and hopefully make ya shake your sugarfoot and holler! I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I did making it. It'll cure what ails ya! If you want to sneek a peek and preview some new songs from SUGARFOOT, there are a few tracks up here:
